The Effect of Planting Date , Storage and Density on the Growth of Transplanted Zoysia Japonica .
Yeam Do-Yi

Abstract
To determine the effect of planting date, storage, and density on the growth of transplanted Zoysia japonica, a series of experiments was conducted.
The results were as follows.
1. The sprig which had transplanted before May 5 was more vigorously grown than that of after May 20.
2. Total sugar contents in rhizome were at a high level in April, and after a slow decrease in May they recovered the first high level after June, Nitrogen contents were at a high level in April and May, and after a decrease in June they showed a little increase after July.
3. The sprig which was soaked in water every 10 days interval was grown well in case of transplanting after 40 days storage. But the sprig which was stored in dry condition for more than 10 days, containing water less than 20% could not survive.
4. The more number of sprig were transplanted, the more total dry weight were obtained from a unit area.
In regard to dry weight per transplanted sprig, the less number of transplanted sprigs resulted the higher dry weight than the more number of transplanted sprig.
5. The high efficiency of urea application was resulted from the small numbers of transplanted sprig in a unit area.
